Overclocking nVidia 1060 on Linux (Ubuntu)

Works like a charm!Posted by Rakesh Bhakta on Aug 22, 2017

Overclocking a gpu usually comes in handy when you are playing demanding video games or mining cryptocurrencies. This tutorial will show you how to do it very easy.

Install Ubuntu 16.10 or 14.04. You can get the installation from here.

Enter the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt update
sudo apt install nvidia-370 nvidia-cuda-toolkit
sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=31 --allow-empty-initial-configuration

That's all! You can now use nvidia-settings utility to overclock and change fan speed. Just make sure to press "enter" when entering values for core and memory offsets.
